"We enjoyed a fabulous two weeks at Le Petit Nid- great accomodation and a wonderful location with lots to do within easy reach. We particularly liked the swimming lake, cycling and walking...we also enjoyed three meals cooked by Sarah which we would heartily recommend."

"We had a fantastic time at Le Petit Nid. It's tucked away half way up the mountain. The house is really comfortable and well equipped. It's really peaceful too with a lovely stream bubbling away next to it. Sarah was a great host, providing advice on walks (with maps) and where to eat and buy food. We also had a delicious meal at her house next door one evening. There is a beautiful lake just 5-10 minutes' drive away where we really enjoyed swimming. And the mountains around are great for hiking. "

Perfect cyclist location for some major Tour climbs
"Group of 7 cyclists booked in for a week. Took advantage of Sara's dine in offer at E20 pn each and were defeated most evenings. The excellent menu provided something new each evening and all of an excellent standard. Sarah and Sebastian were the perfect hosts. From the house we climbed Galibier, Telegraphe, Croix de Fer,Col de Glandon, Alp d'Huez and many other minor cols. Would not hesitate to recommend and already planning a return."

Fantastic hospitality, food and location
"We have recently come back from a wonderful week of conquering a lot of the legendary Tour-de-France cycling Cols and Passes. We booked this place due to its proximity to many of the climbs including the Telegraphe, Galibier, Glandon and Alp d'Huez. The house is lovely with space to comfortably accommodate 8 people (we had 7). Waking up to the backdrop of the huge Alpine mountains was absolutely breathtaking. Sarah and Sebastien the proprietors really looked after us with friendly conversation and offering us at a cost the option of a Cordon bleu 3 course meal every night. Which after a hard day's cycling really hit the spot. Would definitely recommend and would stay again :-)"

"We picked this house because of the already very positive reviews & it's location for the big climbs associated with Le Tour de France. We were not disappointed & received great hospitality from owner Sarah. We took advantage of her meal service each night which hit the mark every time with high quality 3 course condo bleu meals. Recommended? You bet!"

"We spent two weeks at Le Petit Nid and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Plenty of walks in the immediate area and places to visit further afield. Sarah was very helpful and ensured we made the best of our stay. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and lounge area with wood burner. Lovely spots on the terrace and by the stream to read with a glass of wine! We had a superb meal cooked by Sarah that surpassed any other meal we had during the holiday and her partner Sebastian received our Yorkshire franglais with grace and humour! A wonderful base for discovering the Savoie."

"Beautiful spot and a terrific house. Simple and comfortable inside, it is equipped with everything you might need (note: no TV - bliss!). Wonderful base for exploring the stunning scenery and the cycling/running/walking from the house is great. The garden is lovely with the little stream at the bottom. Great for dogs too. Fantastic value for money."

"Loads to do, we enjoyed a lovely but strenuous walk up to the Lac Noir, canoeing , cycling and just lazing around at the swimming lake. We could easily have spent more time here and the meals at Sarah's house were just gorgeous. The accommodation worked perfectly for two families of four and we'd definitely recommend a stay."

"We had a lovely stay at Le Petit Nid. Sarah was very welcoming and we particularly enjoyed the two meals that she cooked for us (only a short walk back!) The gite is perfectly located for a cyclist but also seems very well positioned for skiing (something we'd consider for the winter). We found it well appointed and loved the sound of the stream outside. Very much hope to return one day!"

"A blissful place. Perched above a busy brook, this is a very comfortable house, much more spacious than expected and stylish. Well situated for walks and cycling, exploring villages, swimming in the local lake or even visiting Italy for the day. And Sarah is a fantastic chef who will provide a delicious meal for you as well as generally welcoming you and offering local knowledge. I am already planning my return when I again need to recharge my batteries. You also don't need to bring any books as her shelves are stuffed full of good things to read."

The perfect mountain cottage hideaway
"Had the pleasure of spending a week at 'Le Petit Nid' and I can wholeheartedly recommend the experience to anyone. The cottage is tardis-like in its ability to provide comfortable space, and the experience of sitting next to the little stream at the rear of the cottage, in the evening, with the mountain vista, is one you will remember. The rooms are well furnished and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The kitchen is fully supplied, and the living area provides a welcome escape from the sun when needed. The location half way up the side of the valley provides fantastic views every day and the drive and views on the way up to the Col de la Madeleine have to be seen to be believed. We sampled Sarah's excellent culinary skills twice during our week, and I wish we had done so more often. She is an outstanding chef and both she and Sebastien excellent hosts. We will be returning to 'Le Petit Nid' next year for a longer stay, and personally, I can't wait."

"My husband and I stayed at Le Petit Nid for one night in mid-May on our way back from Italy. I wish we could have had more time there. The gîte was gorgeous – beautifully decorated, with a cosy living room and comfortable bedrooms. A highlight of our stay was the fantastic three-course meal Sarah prepared. She and her husband were very welcoming hosts and we hope to stay there again in future."

"Lovely Petit Nid. We absolutely loved it and we hope we can come back again soon. We found it just brilliant for venturing out to the different ski resorts nearby. For rusty beginners and shaky intermediates the smaller resorts of the Seybelles and St Francouis Longchamp are really lovely and the 3 valleys express from Orelle is a thrilling access to the huge Val Thorens challenges."

"We stayed here the last week of January for a not-standard ski holiday. We took day trips to several ski areas and combined it with a city trip to Chambery. That combination made it very special. The house is lovely as are the hosts Sarah and Sebastian. The final evening we had a stunning dinner made by the excellent chef Sarah herself. Definitely highly recommended!"

Alpine Autumn
"We had a wonderful week here in the late autumn. The weather and the scenery were superb. We walked every day without ever having to leave the valley. The cottage was delightful and comfortable. We enjoyed the wood-burning stove, foraging for walnuts and exploring this peaceful and beautiful region. Sarah was welcoming and gave us lots of useful information. She had even found out about Halloween activities in the area for our kids."

Nothing but good marks!”
"Le Petit Nid is a delightful place to spend a week, even in autumn. The house is cosy, well equipped, clean. The wood stove is a bonus on a november evening, and in case you need a book to read in the sofa next to the stove, the book chest is overflowing with good reads. Sarah was ready to help with all our questions, and yes, we enjoyed a wonderful meal at her house! There are lots of walks in the area, and you often see Mont Blanc towering in the distance. The villages and hamlets are quite authentic, ski tourism has not spoiled this valley. It is but a short drive to the bakery, the butcher, the supermarket. Nothing but good marks for Le Petit Nid!"

This is worth the journey
"As you can see from other reviews, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this little nest. Not so little though, and lovingly restored for visitor's comfort. And with a kitchen that I really enjoyed cooking in, a husband relaxing in comfort watching the rugby world cup, and a dog doing a continual hop, skip and jump when walking the area, we realised that this was a very special place to stay. Walk up the road and just stand enjoying the view of the valley below, or follow the road along to see a lovely old church. There is a little supermarket near by and drives through some lovely mountain passes. Plenty of reading material if you forget your book with comfy sofas, ( one each) to have a good read. Sarah will cook a delicious supper and Sebastian will courteously serve. If you have a dog and enjoy his company and loyalty, take him here. You will have nothing, absolutely nothing to worry about. How lovely it was to come home to wild mushrooms on the doorstep left by Sarah for us to eat for breakfast. I remember it was a breakfast to remember and smile about even now!!! We wish them well, they deserve every compliment."
