"Walking into Le Petit Nid at 1am in the morning, after a long day travelling
from Scotland to the warm welcome of the cosy woodburner, a beautiful converted
watermill and homemade delicious mince pies( made by Sarah a Cordon Blue cook!),
we knew we had found somewhere special for our home for our family New Year Ski
trip ...however when we opened the gorgeous French shutters of the windows and
heard the sound of the 'Alpine burn' we realised it was something more than
special! What a peaceful haven to rest and relax in after a day on the slopes.
We were staying here with good friends and Le Petit Nid proved a spacious,
modern yet charming conversion of the old mill retaining the original beams and
has a beautiful hand carved modern oak staircase without losing any of its old
character. The warm welcome from Sarah, a mix of Scottish and French enthusiasm
the next morning, made us truly feel at home. We recommend an early morning trip
to the local patisserie in Épierre for fresh grande batons, croissants and pain
aux chocs (apparently the best outside Paris!). A great way to start the day for
carving the slopes! One of our favourite memories of our French New Year ski
trip was driving home, after a day of fun, falls and frivolity on the alps, to
Le Petit Nid! Thank you so much Sarah for your warm kindness and gorgeous, cosy
home ... we hope to return sooner rather than later!"
