Perfect Little Nest!

"We were very lucky to find this absolute gem of a property. The photographs hardly do it justice. lt has been converted from an old watermill with an outstanding standard of craftsmanship, from the parquet flooring throughout to the handbuilt staircase and beamed ceilings. There are stunning views of the snow capped mountains and a pretty little stream babbling through the garden, all adding up to a romantic and peaceful atmosphere. Most afternoons, we sat outside on the sun terrace under the wisteria, listening to the stream and drinking a glass (or two!) of ice cold white wine for "l'apero". lt was absolutely perfect.

There is a gorgeous 'beach' down at the lake about 5 mins drive down from the cottage too. lt costs 2 euros each for entry between noon and 5pm, so remember to take change if you are arriving between those times. lt is a lovely spot for a swim, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. The water was much warmer than we expected, thankfully! There is a restaurant there too, serving snacks and drinks during the day. We didn't see the evening menu, but the chef apparently has a Michelin star at his winter restaurant in Meribel, so it could be worth checking out.

The nearest cash machine is in aiguebelle which also has two handy supermarchés for stocking up on wine and cheese and other essentials (although we seemed to cope with mostly just the wine and cheese...!). The kitchen is incredibly well kitted out if you do fancy cooking though. We even spotted fondue and raclette kits which we plan to make good use of if we make it back in the winter for some skiing!

We only stayed for four nights, which passed far too quickly. We'll definitely be back for longer next time. Thank you Sarah for a perfect break in your gorgeous Petit Nid.

Ps. Special mention for the ridiculously comfy beds - proper mattresses and luxurious linens. Best sleep l have had in ages!!"
